In the summer of 2024, she received funding from the European Union's Culture Moves Europe programme for a month-long movement research project on Queering Dancesport in Berlin. Her creative practice aims to deconstruct Latin competitive technique and reimagine it through techno music and new dynamics between bodies.
Experience
Giulia has worked as a performer and choreographer for ITV (UK), the London 2012 Olympics, EXPO Milan 2015 and the 2017 Brighton Fringe Festival. From 2014 to 2018, she choreographed and directed winning performances for Dancing With The Stars in Panama. She’s also quadrilingual, having recently completed a BA in Translation and Interpreting at the University of Trieste, where she focused on translating a European Union document on women in sport.
Competitive background and Education
As a former competitor, she reached the top 50 in the WDSF World Ranking. She then moved to London where she completed an MA in Choreography at Trinity Laban and an MA in Arts Administration and Cultural Policy at Goldsmiths, University of London, the latter funded by Supporting Human Assets in Research and Mobility (S.H.A.R.M.). Her academic research focused on women's leadership and the competitive paradigm in dance.

Giulia has been working with Nuno Sabroso for many years. Their work is characterised by humour and alternative narratives. This video is the culmination of a month of movement research that took place in Berlin in June 2024, with the participation of Harpy Fatale. Through experimentation with switching and contemporary dance techniques, a new movement vocabulary begins to emerge.
